Travis Regional Armed Forces Committee
The Travis Regional Armed Forces Committee (TRAFC) was formed in 1997 from the Solano County Armed Services Committee and the Military Affairs Committees of the Fairfield-Suisun and Vacaville Chambers of Commerce. It was designed to combine similar but separate Travis Air Force Base support groups into a more effective regional voice.
Under the auspices of the County’s City Chambers of Commerce, this body’s membership is comprised of federal, state and local government representatives, businesses and other community organizations. Its day-to-day administration is shared by the Fairfield-Suisun and Vacaville Chambers of Commerce. It is governed by and Executive Committee consisting of at least 17 members and no more than 21.
There are approximately 150 members of this organization who bring even more members of their organizations to assist Travis AFB. The full committee meets monthly to receive updates from key commanders of Travis. Over the years, TRAFC has monetarily supported many base projects such as hosting the 15th AF Solano Trophy Banquet honoring the best active duty and reserve units and paying for the hand blown glass trophies for each.
Historically, it hosted welcome home events for returning troops and hosted a B-B-Q for air show participants at open houses. Currently, TRAFC holds an annual Commander’s Night, NCO Night, Military Recognition Dinner and Contractor’s Breakfast on how to do business with the government.
However, the most important role of the Travis Regional Armed Forces Committee is championing Travis’ needs at the federal, state and local government level through a very active and fully engaged advocacy program.
